Teach a different instrument for once
Thursday, 27 December 2007
Take a couple of lessons to teach your student a different instrument. If you are a bass teacher, teach your student a bit of basic drums, if you are a guitar teacher teach them some bass and so on. It is always important to learn how the rest of the instruments in your band functions, and also a nice treat of diversity to learn a different instrument for a while. Make it relevant by showing your student how to embrace elements of that instrument on their, and showing them how to relate to that instrument while playing together in a band. For instance: Teach your guitar student some piano. Show them how they can imitate two handed playing on guitar by playing rhythm and melody combined. Explain to them that piano and guitar tend to clash and there needs to be careful consideration of part choice and octave choices while playing together. Elaborate, give real time examples and practice the issue.
